Welcome to my student teaching ePortfolio! I hope it can serve as a window into the passion and desire that resides inside of me to teach. I have compiled some of my favorite artifacts, lessons, and pictures during my student teaching experience for you to look over. I am currently in the process of obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Regent University, and I am eager to graduate with my colleagues in May 2017. I feel that I am a shining example that we are never too young or old to obtain knowledge, and I am anxious to pass that on to my students.
During student teaching, I have reconfirmed the belief that I would like to teach a diverse group of students. I have observed, substituted, and taught at many schools, but my heart remains in the low-socioeconomic schools. The key to any successful classroom is building relationships and trust, and I personally find it much easier to do so in this type of environment. I can relate to these students, and in the short time I worked at a Title I school, I developed trustworthy relationships with many students and staff members. Once students begin to trust a teacher, they will begin to succeed in the classroom. It may not happen overnight, but it is worth it in the end to put the time in at the beginning of the school year. All students need to know at the end of the day that they have hope, opportunity, and that they are cared for; this starts by building a strong foundation of trust.
I am truly blessed to have obtained my education from Regent University as my professors have enriched my overall educational experience in many ways. The university has prepared me to love, educate, and inspire my students by teaching me strategies, skills, and techniques that will not only be beneficial to learning, but to classroom management as well.
As I tell my students, I am a lifelong learner, and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as a teacher. I thank you for taking the time to look through my ePortfolio, and I hope it provided you with some insight into the passion that I have for children and learning. My goal is for each child to reach or exceed his or her potential. All students learn differently and come into the classroom on different levels, but it will be my job as their teacher to make sure that they are learning to the best of their ability!
